Did you know that one third of everything you eat is a result of honeybee pollination? Humankind depends on these fascinating insects for food, as well as many other hive products that improve our health and wellbeing. But, honeybees face many challenges in today's world. Both hobby and professional beekeepers are needed to help maintain the populations of this vital creature.
On February 26, 2011, from 9:00-4:00 at Oatland Island Wildlife an entire day is being devoted to educate both novice and experienced beekeepers alike. Come here Bill Ownes, the only Master Craftsman Beekeeper in the state of Georgia, share his wisdom with our community. From a single hive of bees, Bill converted his small single hive hobby into a successful commercial business. Georgia Bee Removal removes infested honey bee colonies from homes and businesses making it the only full time full service bee removal company in the state. Bill was the first beekeeper in Georgia to earn the highest beekeeping certification of Master Craftsman Beekeeper a title which he alone still holds. In addition to magazine articles and scientific publications Bill has co-authored his first book titled Honey Bee Removal: A Step by Step Guide.
